June Gardening in Seattle: Radishes, Carrots and Sweet Little Pollinators

June is such a lovely time in Seattle. It’s not too hot and not too rainy, and the weather is so perfect for getting outside and gardening… after work, on the weekends, or an occasional moment in the morning, when the air is fresh and the birds are having breakfast. There’s nothing more pleasing than walking about the garden in the morning with a cup of coffee in one hand and a hose in the other, seeing what’s coming up today and how everyone’s doing.

April’s Kiwi, Grape and Blueberry Fertilizing and Garden News

The kiwis, grapes and blueberries have been weighing on my mind. Every year I mean to fertilize them, but then I don’t. Partly, it’s because it seems a bit daunting. What type of fertilizer to use? When do we do it? But this year, while half the FoodShed was away for the weekend catching trout (recipes and pictures to come!), the other half stayed home and did some serious gardening.
